To break up the design pages so that my book
doesn't become repetitive, I thought that this would be a good time to
introduce some new research to benefit my outcome. A subject that I haven't
looked at yet is the bone structure and how each individual bone is attached
together, making up your skeleton.
There is so much that you can do with bones in
fashion, the contours and shape provides garments with interesting silhouettes.
They could be used to exaggerate the initial structure of the body and morph it
into a distorted abstract outlook.
I am going to not only look at the human bone structure
but also other living things such as scorpions, butterflies and beetles that
have a more intricate and different structure. These three insects that I have
listed have an outer bone shell called an exoskeleton. This is seen in the
fashion industry regularly by designers such as Iris Van Herpen and Alexander McQueen.
You can also see this being used in the media by
celebrities, the most famous being Lady Gaga. She is renowned for her abstract
and pioneering fashion sense and in her Monster Ball tour she featured a head
and arm piece created by Gary Card.
