Designing is the main area of fashion
that I'm interested in and want to end up in, so for me the class we did on
Wednesday was the most helpful task that we've done so far. Throughout the day
my skills at drawing with singular straight lines really improved and you see
in my work that I was becoming more confident. Before the class, the part of
designing I found the most difficult was trying not to run out of ideas for
what garments to draw and how to make them look interesting. Sarah helped us to
get over the "designers block" by teaching us that adding small
details to a garment in an abstract way can completely change it.
The other problem that I had was as the
day went on and I got slightly more tired my lines became feathery which is
something that I am working on to improve which can be seen in the 50 flat
designs I did in my sketchbook that are based on shapes from my research.
Looking back at the class I believe that
I managed to succeed in what was asked of me but I would have benefited from it
more if I was quicker with each of my designs so I could have created more,
giving me a much wider range of initial designs that I could take ideas
from.
